Sweet sassy mollassey, an extra 70 cents!

I know many of you were expecting a rebuttal to the press conference that Obama held on health care.  But truth be told I didn’t watch it.  I know, I know, I’m a horrible person.  How am I too be informed if I don’t watch the conference, blah blah blah.  There is such a thing as an overload on stupidity and I couldn’t take any more for that day.  I spent that evening relaxing and watching the tv show Magnificent Seven.  Much more enjoyable and has plenty of actors that make my heart skip.  But that is beside the point.  This is supposed to be political and serious….let me get my game face on.

So today the minimum wage was raised.  This is bad, very very bad.  How can it be bad you ask?  How can giving a raise to those who are making minimum wage, those that are usually on the low end of the economic spectrum?  Here is how.  We are in an economic crisis.  A crisis that won’t be solved over night.  And so the only thing between millions of people and complete economic doom is there employer. Because if it weren’t for them then there would be no jobs.  But this raise in minimum wage puts pressure on the employer and in the economic struggle all of us are facing, they might be forced to fire people.  Higher cost for the employer is never good news for the employee.  So while some may enjoy this 70 cent raise today, the possibility is that there wage will be $0 tomorrow.

And this defeats one of the purposes of the whole raise in wage.  If employers fire or cut back employees hours,  then there is less money in circulation, less consumer spending.   Not only would it create a higher unemployment rate but it would also cause fewer new jobs created.

I know you guys were still expecting some health care rant.  And trust me, I am against any form of government run health care.  Well government run anything to be precise.  But I’m trying to write a blog that explains the house bill with all of it’s crazy twists and turns.  And it is taking longer than it should, seeing as I want you to be informed as to what they are trying to pass before it gets passed.  So be prepared for one long post hopefully before the weekend is up.

I guess I will leave you with this:

Remember that Real ID that was put through in 2005?  No?  Well it was an act that would put chips into licenses that would have all your information and could be scanned at a distance.  All the cops would have to do was walk into an anti-government assembly and they could get a list of all who attend.  Theoretically it would be used to stop terrorists.  Well they are trying to “fix” it.  States complained about the costs and people complained about the obvious privacy issues.  Now it’s called Pass ID and it’s pretty much the same thing, just with less cost supposedly to the states.  All states are supposed to show that they are starting the transformation to the pass id licenses by the end of this year, I believe.  And all license after 2016 are supposed to contain Pass ID.  My issue is how are we to know that they won’t take advantage of the situation.  How are we to know that anyone who disagrees with policies and might attend, let’s say a tea party, won’t be specifically put on a list.  I know that if that happens, they wont need to attend a party to know I was there, I rarely cover up my beliefs.  And I am a loudmouth.  But what about people who aren’t trying to advertise?  And what if a person just happened to attend one just to see what it was about.  Serious invasion of privacy.

Dear Mr. President…

Add one part national economic crisis, one part socialistic reform, and one part living in California and you get a blog from Joanna.

Thank you, President Obama.

I just want to take a moment to thank you, President Obama, for all you’ve done for America.  In the short time you’ve been in office, you have managed to accomplish an unbelievable amount of the CHANGE your election campaign promised.  It’s impressive, really.  Most presidential elections are filled with false promises.  It’s next to impossible for a president to come through on everything he promises, for reasons including an uncooperative Congress, financial and economic feasibility issues, and constitutional questions.

But not you, Mr. President.  You don’t let any of that stop you.  You jump right in with both feet your first day in office.  So many people were upset with the outcomes of your predecessor’s administration, that Congress agreed to do pretty much whatever you wanted, no questions asked.  In the first six months of your administration you managed to push so many bills through Congress, that you have single handedly spent more money than every other president in the entire history of the United States, combined.

So, thank you, Mr. President, for putting our country so far in dept, all China has to do is sneeze funny for them to own us.  President Bush started it, to be sure.  But, wow, Mr. President, have you made Bush look like a Mr. Scrooge.

And thank you, Mr. President, for making me a part owner of General Motors.  You say you don’t want to run an automotive company, but you stepped up, took control, and pumped billions into a failing business that produces a product no one wants.  That’s great, really.  You saved all those jobs, and now my tax dollars are paying their salaries.  Does that mean I get a share of the profits?  Wait, there are no profits, because the business produces a product no one wants to buy.  Good choice there.

And thank you, also, Mr. President, for taking over AIG, effectively letting the Fed take control of the insurance industry.  Not to mention the TARP program you took over from President Bush.  Controlling the banking industry on top of everything else?  You are incredibly selfless, being willing to take federal control of all these formerly private sectors in order to help the little people.

Oh, and thank you for telling me that the good ol’ U. S. of A. is subject to the whimsical opinions of other countries.  I’m so glad I know that Europe hates us for our cheap energy, excess of land, too much space, wide roads, large homes, etc.  It’s about time we start making our country (which was founded by men wanting to CHANGE the way government is run), just like all those other countries.

And most importantly, Mr. President:  thank you for taking the Constitution and throwing it out the window.  Who needs free speech when you can tell me what to say and think?  That just makes life so much easier. Helen Thompson, one of the most liberal reporters reporting on the White House, has accused you of tampering with the press (while your Press Secretary laughed, no less).  And let’s just forget that pesky tenth amendment.  Who cares that the document outlining your power says everything you’ve done is illegal?  Ignore it, and it will all go away, right?  Because you are CHANGING things.

So, I say again.  Thank you, Mr. President for all you’ve done, and for all you are about to do.  I will probably continue to thank you when you pass your “Cap and Trade” energy initiative, which will cause energy costs to skyrocket.  And when I, and tens of thousands of others like me, loose their jobs when you manage to socialize health care, I’m sure we will still be thanking you.  And I’m sure Americans will continue to thank you when the loss of revenue from the crippled pharmaceutical industry effectively halts medical research.

How far will you take things, Mr. President?  How much will we have to thank you for, before it’s all said and done?

Chain of events.

Here are some more examples of how corrupt our government is and how much nepotism goes on in the government. And both sides of the aisle are just ignoring it.

Lets start with the whole “fairness doctrine.” Which is nothing more than wanting to silence those that are doing well. It’s a free market and if one person can get listeners and make money then why should the radio company be forced to put on something that would inevitable make the company loose money? It’s like when people complain that their sports team lost. I know it’s disappointing that your team lost, but the opponent just has a better game plan.

So we have Congressman Clyburn who is pushing the whole doctrine. He’s saying that companies like Clear Channel got too big and is unfair because it’s not mainly minorities. So he suggests sending more money (which the United States doesn’t have) to support minority owned stations. All radio stations are suffering right now due to the fact that companies are trying to save money by not advertising. It’s sad that many stations might have to stop broadcasting but I’m still a firm believer in true capitalism. If you can’t make it, you fail. And then you pull yourself back up. It might be hard but expecting handouts isn’t going to make you stronger. Here is where the nepotism comes in. Guess who was appointed to the FCC, the group that regulates radio? Mignon Clyburn, Congressman Cyburn’s daughter.

And now to one of the craziest web of nepotism and corruption I’ve ever seen. So this might seem confusing but hang in there.

Goldman Sachs profits went up 65% this quarter.

Secretary Treasure Paulson comes from Goldman Sachs.

Paulson decides to let Lehman Brothers fail. Lehman Brothers is the biggest competitor of Goldman Sachs.

The very next day Paulson bails out AIG. And who does AIG pay back completely, Goldman Sachs.

Paulson then decides that we need TARP. So he hires a former employee of Goldman Sachs to design and administer TARP.

Goldman Sachs then decides it wants to be a bank holding company, so they get a hold of the head of TARP and Paulson. Walmart tried for five years to be a bank holding company to no avail. It takes Goldman Sachs a day.

This means they can get more governmental funding. Not only do they get TARP funding but also money from the FDIC.

And now that they are a bank holding company they are no longer overseen by the SEC. Guess who oversees them….

The Federal Reserve. Guess who is head of the Fed in New York where G.S. is?

A board member of Goldman Sachs. Which is illegal.

But Secretary Treasury Paulson signs a waiver saying that its ok that Goldman Sachs is overseen by it’s own board member without him leaving the board or selling his stocks.

Ok so there that is. And for those that don’t know Goldman Sachs primarily dealt with derivatives and oil speculation. Which are two of the main things that got us in this whole mess in the first place!!

Back to the Fed. Ron Paul’s audit the Fed bill is supported by more than half the Congress. But the bill is being blocked. Why? Well Goldman Sachs has appointed the Enron Lobbyist to keep this bill off the table. Such a shock that the company making money off of the United State citizens that’s being overseen by the Fed wants to keep the Fed from being transparent.

PS. A Maryland company under contract by the Pentagon has invented a steam powered robot that fuels itself by foraging for organic material. I.E. wood, grass, dead bodies…..
